Local Art & Universal Appeal
Since its inception in 2001, the 2-mile corridor along Route 1 known as the Gateway Arts District has developed into a rejuvenated enclave full of eclectic shops, galleries, restaurants, and entertainment. We’re excited to provide local artists a place to showcase their work and a community that supports them through exhibits, markets, events, and advertising.

Sustenance
The Women’s Caucus for Art of Greater Washington, DC (WCADC) invited artists based in DC, MD and VA to share artwork inspired by the human relationship with food, eating and drinking, and community.
WCADC is a community of women artists, curators, art historians, and art collectors. Members participate in national and local chapter exhibitions, attend educational workshops, art shares, and network with established artists.

‘Food is love. Food is fuel. Sharing a meal or drink is a way we bond and celebrate life’s milestones, connect with our culture, and sustain and nourish our bodies and spirits.’
‘Like a multi-course meal, each piece of art can be savored alone, or together to illustrate all that we are through food and what sustains us.’
— Prudence Bonds, Exhibitions Chair, WCADC
miXt Food Hall’s rotating art exhibition spaces have an open call for local artists to submit their work for consideration. Please contact John Paradiso, Curator of Programs at Portico Gallery & Studios, at portico3807@gmail.com and include a link to your website.
